Cheers to Hannah & Colin!

Hannah & Colin's wedding day was so full of love!

As I entered into my 7th decade of life I thought that maybe it's time to give up wedding photography and stick to Seniors, families, flowers, and Christmas mini-sessions. I worry about the weather, the heat in the middle of summer, long days shooting, getting all the right shots. I pride myself with capturing the essence of the day for couples with each being unique. When I look back at the wedding galleries from the past I feel like I've done it well.

Then THIS happened!

Hannah & Colin and their families happened!

The weather gods were with us on July 13th. It was 89° when I left Hampton Falls and 82° with a beautiful breeze when I arrived at Four Tree Island in Portsmouth, NH.

The chairs were set up and the groom's family arrived shortly before the bride and her family. I'd photographed Colin with his sister, Megan and his brother, Evan years ago when their mom wanted photos of her kids for Christmas, but I had never met Hannah. I waited in the parking lot and said, "I thought I'd introduce myself to you before you walk down the aisle so you know who to look at!" Colin and Hannah had everything organized, but were very relaxed and laid back.

The way they looked at each other & spoke their vows told me that this was a love story in the making for a very long time. I could feel the love between them and around them from their families. Hannah's father's welcoming words were spoken from his heart with love & respect and a feeling of being blessed.

We took lots of family photos at the Wentworth and then walked down to the Wentworth Marina to get some couple shots before joining their families at the SALT Restaurant for their wedding dinner.

If all small weddings can be this great, I'll continue for the next 5 to 10 years! I'm really enjoying photographing smaller, personal, intimate weddings. Of course that depends on whether my hamstrings ever stop screaming from the uphill climb from the Marina back up to the Wentworth. I guess I could start training now to get my legs in better shape! And if this IS my last wedding photo shoot, it's a great one to end with.

Much LOVE & Happiness to Hannah & Colin in the wonderful life you have ahead of you.
